Offices
The Joint Institute for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition is located at 2134 Patapsco Bldg. at M Square, Maryland's largest research park. It is adjacent to the FDA CFSAN Harvey Wiley Building, within walking distance from the College Park Metro (Washington's subway and bus transit system) and is less than two miles from the University of Maryland main campus. The location is just nine miles from downtown Washington, D.C., and approximately 30 miles from both Baltimore and Annapolis. JIFSAN is accessible by the METRO subway system and bus routes, as well as the MARC commuter train.
International Training Laboratory
The International Food Safety Training Laboratory (IFSTL) is a 4,600 square feet laboratory facility located at the University of Maryland. It is the home of JIFSAN's latest program focusing on laboratory capacity building to ensure the safety of the US food supply and harmonization of analytical methods worldwide. IFSTL was created in partnership with the Waters Corporation and is dedicated to training in the area of chemical and microbial food safety.
