New JIFSAN Associate Director named

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has named Dr. John Callahan to be Associate Director of JIFSAN. He fills the vacancy left by the retirement of Dr. Elizabeth Calvey in January 2016. This position represents the FDA side of the partnership with the University of Maryland.

Dr. Callahan has interacted with JIFSAN in the past, and is highly motivated to maintain and enhance the collaborative relationship between the University of Maryland and FDA. He is a highly effective leader who takes responsibilities seriously, and will undoubtedly provide excellent service for JIFSAN in the future. He currently serves as Deputy Director of the Office of Regulatory Science at FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition.
