JIFSAN and Hong Kong Polytechnic University Collaborate on Annual Food Safety Risk Analysis Course

Sepetember 12-15, 2025, College Park, MD

Each year, JIFSAN partners with Hong Kong Polytechnic University to offer a course in food safety risk analysis—an essential and ever-evolving field. Through a combination of lectures and hands-on exercises, students not only learn the fundamentals of risk management but also begin to see how these concepts apply in real-world settings to protect public health.

As JIFSAN’s lead instructor, Dr. Charles Yoe, shares, “There is exciting promise ahead for those who choose this path, and they are well-positioned to contribute in meaningful ways.”

What makes this course especially meaningful is the students themselves. Their curiosity, questions, and willingness to engage create an environment that is both thoughtful and energizing. Many take pride in sharing their milestones with Dr. Yoe—whether earning an A, publishing their first research paper, gaining the confidence to explore complex ideas more deeply, or simply overcoming the nerves that come with presenting their work.

From September 12–15, 2025, fifty-two students came together for this experience, building skills—and confidence—that they will carry forward.

Students learn through lectures, engaging discussions and energized curiosity!
