JIFSAN collaborated with the Instituto Interamericano de Cooperación para la Agricultura (IICA) to deliver a Train the Trainer (TTT) program for the US-FDA Produce Safety Rule (PSR) in San José, Costa Rica, July 15-19, 2019. The program focused on the delivery of the PSR TTT materials developed by the Produce Safety Alliance (PSA), which is a partner with JIFSAN in the Produce International Partnership (PIP). The program also included presentations from US- FDA on FSMA Rules.
The FDA Latin American Office took a lead role in the vetting of program participants to help ensure that all of them were qualified to apply for Lead Trainer status with the PSA. Also, the program was a regional one, with sixty-one participants traveling from eight countries in Latina America and the Caribbean. After completing the training they have applied for Lead Trainer status with PSA.
