JIFSAN-CFS³ faculty and our FDA collaborators had the opportunity to visit the USDA Beltsville Agricultural Research Center on February 1st , 2023. The USDA Beltsville Agricultural Research Center provides a cutting-edge research facility for important areas such as, environmental microbiology and food safety. Additionally, its Food Quality Lab has a modern fresh-cut processing pilot plant that offers a great research opportunity to help produce safe and healthy fresh fruits and vegetables.

The visit included a tour of the newly renovated Building 307, the Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) Research Center and the Fresh-Cut Processing Pilot Plant. The visit concluded with a research collaboration discussion. We would like to thank Dr. Yaguang (Sunny) Luo, Dr. Moon Kim, Dr. Dan Pearlstein, Dr. Bin Zhou, Dr. Jorge Fonseca and Dr. JoAnn Van Kessel for their time and for leading the tours of the USDA Research Facilities.
