JIFSAN Presented Seafood Sanitation Courses in Jakarta and Surabaya, Indonesia as part of the Shrimp Mandate Program

JIFSAN collaborated with the Fish Quarantine and Inspection Agency (FQIA) under the Ministry of Marine Affairs & Fisheries, Republic of Indonesia to present two, 2-day Seafood Sanitation workshops in Jakarta & Surabaya, Indonesia. These courses were held March 13-14 & March 16-17, 2023, to a diverse field of Indonesian government, industry, and academia participants. The in-person workshop focused on improving compliance with U.S. laws and regulations related to seafood sanitation in processing facilities. Furthermore, the courses provided a critical overview of proper food processing sanitation methods as well as assistance in the development and implementation of Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs). Prior to the in-person course dates, participants were required to complete an Introductory Online Food Processing Sanitation course through the University of Maine’s Cooperative Extension as part of the program.
